  • Smallest country in the Western hemisphere
  • now use tourism as the main source of revenue 
  • Attractions designed to keep tourist busy
  • Future is bright plans to moderate through tourism and reusable energy
Antigua & Barbuda

  • The demand for water is high due to the population expansion
  • pollution, population expansion, and deforestation
  • Compact waste is major concern in the islands
  • Crops suffer form droughts and soil abuse
British Virgin Islands

  • Corals Reefs
  • Reefs are part of daily life impossible not to interact with them
  • Boat anchors cause up to 23 years of steady degradation
  • Islands vulnerable to hurricanes, tsunamis, and groundswell events 
  • Broken coral debris damage other corals
  • Higher water temperature = Stonger storms

Puerto Rico-

  • has been influenced by many other cultures
  • American ideals have been forced on them
  • Ingeniousness people were the Taino Indians
  • The slave trade was one the biggest slave trades in recorded history
  • The African slaves tried to ;earn the ways of the Spanish
  • America was attracted to the island for its natural resources
Jamaica

  • Women are paid less and are less secured
  • 1970-1980 Jamaica faced recession
  • 2nd ranked distributor of oil
  • still undergo discrimination and racism
  • Masculine island
Martinique

  • Faced with water-borne disease
  • Waterborne diseases are caused from drinking unclean water
  • zoonotic diseases can be transmitted from animals
  • Martinique has experienced four major dengue outbreaks
St.Martin/Maarten

  • Both French and Dutch sides are economically diverse
  • The Dutch side is known for extended happy hour, casinos, and board walks
  • You should sleep on the Dutch side and eat on the French side
  • Carnival is held every year in Saint Martin and bring people around the world
  • St. Maarten holds the Heineken Regina
ABC Island

  •  Tourism is the base of the economy
  • Located on the outskirts of the hurricane zone and has the best weather of the Caribbean islands
  • Officials languages are English, Dutch and Papiamento

Presentation Day 1

Cuba- Not all of Cuba's income come from tourism. also get income from agriculture and industry.
Saba-Not the best to visit because its not the easiest place to access. They only get their groceries on Wednesday. Smallest island in the Caribbean.

Trinidad- Found oil reserves in the 1950s and there was a depression when gas prices droped in the 80s

Haiti-  Efforts to help Haiti aren't the best companies are only interested in their own gain and to look like they are accomplishing something. Standard of living has decreased over the years

St. Vincent and Grenadines- Tourism and agriculture are the two main resources. Not as sensitive to the crops. Agriculture has declined significantly over the last 10 years.

Guadeloupe- In 300 B.C discovered by Arawak Indians. Arawak Men like to tear out their hair with knives. Were Polytheists their Gods were Zemi.  The stories were told orally.
